Welcome to our website! Today, we’re counting down our picks for the upcoming anime films we’re most excited about. While we all eagerly await Miyazaki’s next masterpiece, here are some films to keep an eye on:
10. The Rose of Versailles
There’s never been a better time to start reading up on the French Revolution. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the manga, “The Rose of Versailles” is coming back on the largest screen possible. Ever since the original run ended in 1980, this influential drama hasn’t been given the treatment it deserves.
Thankfully, Studio MAPPA, known for hits like “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “Attack on Titan,” and “Chainsaw Man,” will rectify that in 2025. This fresh adaptation is sure to please newcomers and longtime fans alike.
9. The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes
After falling into a fantasy realm, Sid Kagano made himself the center of pop culture conversation. Now, he’s setting his sights on the multiplex. Building off two fantastic seasons of action and atomic displays of strength, Sid’s theatrical expedition is bound to be a hit.
8. Futo Pi: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull
A Kamen Rider anime film sells itself, especially when it’s based on an already established show. “Futo Pi” is a superhero anime based on the manga of the same name, a continuation of the live-action Kamen Rider W series. “Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull” is a flashback story chronicling the last case of Detective Sokichi Narumi, making it uniquely positioned to appeal to all audiences.
7. The Irregular at Magic High School: Yotsuba Succession Arc
This show is worth the hype, and what better way to reward fans than with a trip to the movie theaters? The film picks up right where the third season left off, with a power vacuum at the head of the Yotsuba Clan. Catching up with Miyuki and Tatsuya is worth the price of admission alone.
6. Overlord: The Holy Kingdom
Just when you thought Ainz Ooal Gown couldn’t get any cooler, he brings his armies to an even bigger screen. “Overlord” has been the peak of violent fantasy wish fulfillment for years. The Holy Kingdom promises to deliver even more epic battles and storylines.
5. Haikyuu!! Final Part 2
Karasuno’s story is on set point, and to add to the pressure, they’re on the biggest stage yet. “Haikyuu!!” is bringing its dramatic conclusion to theaters across two feature-length films. The first film, “The Dumpster Battle,” scored several box office records. Expect to see Hinata, Kageyama, and the others sooner rather than later.
4. My Hero Academia: You’re Next
After three films and over 100 episodes, “My Hero Academia” is still going strong. For their fourth trip to the movies, they’re bringing out their most ambitious pitch yet: Evil All Might, or Dark Might. The series’ films have always delivered hype action and emotional beats, and “You’re Next” is expected to maintain that level of quality.
3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgis Rising
Good things come to those who wait. Over 10 years after the franchise’s last theatrical endeavor, “Madoka Magica” is returning for more magical goodness. “Walpurgis Rising” is a direct sequel to 2013’s “Rebellion,” bringing excitement to a whole new level.
2. Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Rise Arc
The must-see show of 2022 just became the must-see movie experience. “Chainsaw Man” is taking its next storyline to the big screen with the highly anticipated Rise Arc. Expect all the bloodshed, hormones, and zaniness that Chainsaw Man does best.
1. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Trilogy
Muzan has made his move, the Slayer Corps is trapped in his domain, and “Demon Slayer” is about to dominate once again. The climactic final battle is being turned into three full movies. If the Infinity Castle Trilogy can match even half of Mugen Train’s success, we’re in for an unprecedented time at the multiplex.
